VACANCIES IN THE CCAP BLANTYRE SYNOD EDUCATION DEPARTMENT
CCAP Blantyre Synod in partnership with Save the Children International is implementing a two year project to promote girls education under the Keeping Girls in School (KGIS) programme with funding from UKAid from the UK Government. The programme aims at improving the school experience and environment for adolescent girls in programme areas and will work very closely with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Welfare, as well as agencies implementing the other strands of the KGIS programme.
Blantyre Synod, therefore, seeks to recruit suitably qualified, experienced, results-oriented, creative and honest persons to fill the following vacancies on two year contract.
PROJECT MANAGER (To be based in Blantyre))
This person reports to the Education Secretary and will have the following duties among others:-
· Lead and support District Project Coordinators in preparing, implementing and monitoring annual operational plans and budgets;
· Lead on the project financial management ensuring accountability, analysis and reporting of financial expenditures to management and donors;
· Ensure with, the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) team, that the project is meeting all the intended milestones and monitored within the required and agreed timeframes;
· Initiate, organise and facilitate regular technical stakeholder meetings;
· Work closely with the District Project Coordinators to design or adapt existing tools for participatory monitoring and evaluation of project activities;
· Ensure coordination among District Project Coordinators to enhance learning and sharing on implementation of the project;
· Training and coordinating teams for data collection and analysis;
· Monitor the progress of the project and recommend necessary amendments based on lessons learnt;
· Produce periodic news sheets and documentaries about the project, and disseminate it to relevant stakeholders;
· Work with the Management team to submit accurate and timely program and financial information to Save the Children;
· Submit periodic narrative reports on a monthly and quarterly basis to SCI Programme Manager;
· Carry out other duties related to the project as assigned by Management.
Qualifications
· A first degree in Education, Social Science, International Development, Economics or related relevant discipline from the University of Malawi or any Government recognized institution.
· At least three years experience at management level.
Skills and Experience
· Experience in capturing and documenting lessons from program implementation for management decisions;
· Demonstrated ability to adhere to official systems, procedures and donor requirements;
· Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet very strict project deadlines;
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to write high quality reports;
DISTRICT PROJECT COORDINATOR (7positions to based in programme areas)
Reporting to the Project Manager, the District Coordinator will perform the following duties:-
· Provide technical leadership of the project at district level, ensuring appropriate coordination with structures at District level such as the DEM, District Social Welfare and DCDO, etc;
· Monitor project activities based on the set milestones and within the required timeframes;
· Organize training activities and meetings for stakeholders and consortium partners;
· Conduct monitoring visits and meetings;
· Facilitate regular engagement with key district level stakeholders, ensuring regular information sharing, joint planning and monitoring, and government participation in all activities;
· Submit monthly and quarterly reports to the Project Manager.
Skills & Experience
· Prior experience of implementing girls’ education programmes;
· Demonstrable experience in management of financial resources;
· Ability to meet project targets;
· Experience of working with government structures and civil society in implementing projects;
· Self-motivated and results orientated.
Qualifications
· At least Diploma in Education, Community Development, or related relevant discipline,
· An excellent team player and a willing learner.
· Ability to ride a motorcycle.
ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT (1 post to based in Blantyre)
Reporting to the accountant, the accounts assistant will perform the following duties:-
· Assist accountant and Project team in undertaking financial planning such as preparing budgets and requests;
· Assist the accountant prepare and submit all monthly, quarterly and annual reports related to project finances required by donors and management within set deadlines;
· Maintaining Petty cash and ensuring proper reconciliation on the same;
· Assisting the Accountant in Producing Audit Schedules;
· Proper Filing and ensuring that all necessary documents per transaction are available;
· Performing other lawful duties as assigned from time to time by superiors.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
· At least a Diploma in Accounting-ICAM (PAEC).
· Must have a clear understanding of Computer and Computer Packages specifically Word and Excel.
· Must have Knowledge of Sage Accounting System.
· A minimum of 2 years in a busy accounting office.
· Experience in management of project funds.
· She/he must be accurate and able to work with minimum supervision.
DRIVER (1 post to be based in Blantyre)
The person shall carry out the following duties:-
· Ensuring proper management and safety of the vehicle;
· Carry out driving duties as requested;
· Ensure that each trip undertaken is duly authorized;
· Safeguard passengers by ensuring that the vehicle is roadworthy at all times;
· Strictly observe traffic rules and regulation and adhere to safety requirements e.g. maximum loading and speed limit;
· Collect and deliver goods, mail, documents and other items as necessary;
· Ensuring that cargo is protected against all damage and weather conditions;
· Take care of the day-to-day efficient maintenance of the assigned means of transport: check oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc;
· Ensure that the vehicle is kept clean and in good condition at all times;
· Ensure adherence to planned and preventive maintenance schedules;
· Open and close mileage for each trip undertaken and record all fuel refilling in the vehicle log book;
· After closing times of regular working hours, ensure that vehicles are parked at designated parking places.

Education and Experience
- MSCE or its equivalent.
- Possession of a clean valid SADC driving licence.
- 5 years driving work experience.
